The Observatory on the Universality of Rights (OURs) is pleased to announce the launch of\u00a0its web platform: oursplatform.org<\/a>. The platform will be the go\u00adto place for information and resources on safeguarding the\u00a0universality of rights in international and regional human rights spaces.<\/p>\n


\nA new collaborative project<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Human rights are universal, indivisible, interdependent, and inalienable for\u00a0every person in the world.<\/p>\n

Yet, increasingly conservative actors are targeting the systems established to protect human\u00a0rights for all. These actors use arguments based on anti\u00adrights interpretations of religion, culture,\u00a0tradition and state sovereignty to roll back our fundamental human rights \u2014 particularly\u00a0women\u2019s rights and gender justice\u2014 and to justify state impunity.<\/p>\n

The Observatory on the Universality of Rights (OURs) is a new collaborative project that aims to\u00a0monitor, analyze, and share information on anti\u00adrights initiatives threatening international and\u00a0regional human rights systems.<\/p>\n

Grounded in a feminist framework, the OURs initiative works across regions, issues, and human\u00a0rights spaces towards the advancement of social justice.<\/p>\n

The project seeks to understand who is undermining the universality of human rights; why and\u00a0how they seek to do it; and what can be done to secure equal human rights for all, including and\u00a0especially rights related to gender and sexuality.<\/p>\n
