{"id":2041,"date":"2017-11-17T07:01:27","date_gmt":"2017-11-17T07:01:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.csbronline.org\/?p=2041"},"modified":"2017-12-14T06:23:54","modified_gmt":"2017-12-14T06:23:54","slug":"csbr-at-the-rrrap-summit-rights-resources-and-resilience-in-asia-pacific","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csbronline.org\/?p=2041","title":{"rendered":"CSBR at the RRRAP Summit: Rights, Resources and Resilience in Asia Pacific"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CSBR was at the <strong>Rights, Resources and Resilience in Asia Pacific<\/strong> (RRRAP) <strong>Summit,\u00a0<\/strong> hosted by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.apcom.org\" target=\"_blank\">APCOM<\/a> in Bangkok from 13-15 November 2017.\u00a0 The RRRAP Summit was an opportunity to reflect on the gains and shifts of the last 10 years of organizing and advocacy to end HIV and improve community health outcomes with a focus on key populations, and new strategies for moving ahead.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Prior to the Summit, APCOM hosted the HERO awards, recognizing community advocates across the region who have been defining leaders in movements for rights and recognition. It was a great night for recognition of the groundbreaking work of activists across Muslim societies, including <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.themalaymailonline.com\/malaysia\/article\/malaysian-transgender-trailblazer-khartini-named-regional-hero\">Khartini Slamah, whose 30+ years of activism has re-shaped support for transgender communities and sex workers&#8217; rights across Malaysia and Asia Pacific<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our member <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bandhu-bd.org\/bandhu-received-prestigious-hero-award-for-its-contribution-to-hiv-prevention-equality-and-rights-of-gender-diverse-population\/\">Bandhu Social Welfare Society was honoured in the Community Organization category<\/a><\/strong>, for their over 20 years of leading work as a provider of <span class=\"_5afx\"><span class=\"_58cm\">HIV<\/span><\/span> programs, <span class=\"_5afx\"><span class=\"_58cm\">sexual health<\/span><\/span> services and <span class=\"_5afx\"><span class=\"_58cm\">human rights<\/span><\/span> advocacy throughout <span class=\"_5afx\"><span class=\"_58cm\">Bangladesh<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2042\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2042\" style=\"width: 286px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.csbronline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Bandhu_HeroAwards2017.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2042\" src=\"http:\/\/www.csbronline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Bandhu_HeroAwards2017.png\" alt=\"Bandhu_HeroAwards2017\" width=\"286\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csbronline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Bandhu_HeroAwards2017.png 435w, https:\/\/csbronline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Bandhu_HeroAwards2017-212x300.png 212w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 286px) 100vw, 286px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2042\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Shale Ahmed, Bandhu Social Welfare Society<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our Advisory Committee member Dede Oetomo, in his role as APCOM&#8217;s Chair, opened &amp; closed the Summit, and presented across multiple sessions on the work of Indonesian civil society in engaging cross-sector collaborations, including faith-based organizations, to further protection, recognition and respect for people of diverse sexual orientations and gender identities.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2043\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2043\" style=\"width: 297px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.csbronline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_6548.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2043\" src=\"http:\/\/www.csbronline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_6548-e1510900809530.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_6548\" width=\"297\" height=\"401\" srcset=\"https:\/\/csbronline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_6548-e1510900809530.jpg 361w, https:\/\/csbronline.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/IMG_6548-e1510900809530-222x300.jpg 222w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 297px) 100vw, 297px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2043\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Dede Oetomo, APCOM<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our Coordinator, Rima Athar, presented on a Side Event on <em>&#8220;The Uncivil Society&#8221;: Of Priviledge, Exclusion and the Work of Social Justice for All&#8221;<\/em>, and on the third day&#8217;s Plenary, <em>&#8220;From Evolution to Revolution: Merging Movements Towards Broader Social Justice And Change&#8221;<\/em>, alongside groups including Asia Pacific Network of Sex Workers (APNSW), UNAIDS Asia Pacific, ILGA-Asia, and Asia Pacific Network of People Using Drugs (ANPUD).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rima&#8217;s contributions explored the language, questions and practices of solidarity &amp;
